About ALICAP

What is ALICAP

ALICAP was formed and endorsed by the NASB (Nebraska Association of School Boards) in September of 1990. During that first year, ALICAP consisted of 32 member districts/ESUs, as the program provided Workers’ Compensation coverage only.

By September of 1996, the pool was serving 75 members and began offering property and casualty coverage. Since 1996, ALICAP has continued to provide Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Automobile, Liability and Physical Damage, School Boards’ Errors and Omissions, Crime and Employee Dishonesty coverages to its membership. The ALICAP program was created on six original commitments:

  1. A Stabilized Marketplace
  2. Enhanced Coverage
  3. Customized Loss Control Program
  4. Claims Management and District Input
  5. Competitive Pricing
  6. Return of Surplus to the Owner Districts/ESUs

ALICAP is managed by an eleven member board of trustees. Nine trustee positions are made up of Superintendents, School Board Members, and School Business Managers of various ALICAP member districts/ESUs. The other two board positions are held by the NASB Executive Director and a member of the NASB Board of Directors.

Currently, ALICAP consists of over 194 school districts/ESUs from across the great state of Nebraska. As the pool continues to grow, the original commitments remain the foundation of the program.
